The former spouses announced their split in July 2023.
Sofía Vergara is opening up for the first time about her split from Joe Manganiello. The actors announced in July 2023 that they were calling it quits after seven years of marriage.
In a new interview for CBS Sunday Mornings, the 51-year-old Modern Family star acknowledged how her personal life made headlines last year, saying she was "surprised" by how respectful people were about the divorce news.
"Yeah, of course, you're up there and that's part of being a celebrity. I knew it was going to happen," Vergara said of having her personal life made public. "You can't hide those things."
As for the news cycle surrounding the split, Vergara added, "It wasn't bad. I have to say the press was very respectful and very nice. I thought that they were going to invent more things, you know how they usually [do]. And I was just kind of surprised. They kind of just said what it was and that was it."
As for her current relationship status, the America's Got Talent judge simply noted, "I've been moving on."
Last fall, Vergara was photographed out with Dr. Justin Saliman. Vergara has not publicly addressed the relationship, but in November, a source told ET that things were "going great" between the pair.
"They like each other a lot, but Sofia is also taking things slow," the source said at the time. "Sofia and Justin have a lot of fun together and Sofia always keeps everyone around her laughing and in positive spirits. Justin likes that she takes pride in keeping her personal life private, that she’s up front and honest, and that she can be her genuine self with him."
Meanwhile, Manganiello has been seeing actress Caitlin O'Connor.
Vergara and Manganiello released a joint statement over the summer announcing their plans to divorce. "We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives."
In September 2023, Vergara opened up to ET about her year of change, saying, "It's been very interesting, you know. It's been an interesting year for me. A lot of changes, a lot of good and craziness and bad things happen and good things happen. You know, what makes life so entertaining and interesting… I can't complain. I've had a great, great time. There's always time for more good stuff coming."
Now she's busy promoting her upcoming Netflix series, Griselda, which begins streaming Jan. 25.
