The couple's new series, 'Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse,' premieres Sunday, June 2.
Chip and Joanna Gaines are celebrating 10 years of Fixer Upper with their upcoming new series, Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse.
In an exclusive look at the show, in which the couple overhauls a severely outdated 1960s lakehouse from demo to design in Texas, the pair look back on their early days on TV.
"Babe, I cannot believe it's been 10 years," Chip tells Joanna during a drive to the lakehouse in Lake Waco, a new neighborhood for the home renovation duo.
The original Fixer Upper series premiered on HGTV in 2014 and ran for five seasons before airing its final episode in 2018. During its initial run, it became the No. 1 unscripted series on all of cable television.
"When I think back to that first fixer," Joanna starts as a clip from 2014 plays, "and we'd never filmed before, I mean this was the pilot. I remember all these.."
"I remember I didn't like know literally where to put my hands," Chip interjects before Joanna agrees.
The two, who celebrated 20 years of marriage last June, reminisce on tackling their first on-screen home renovation project, particularly recalling a terrifying vent removal near electrical wire.
"I can't believe we survived," Joanna says from the passenger seat.
For the launch of the Gaines' new network, Magnolia Network, the series was rebooted as Fixer Upper: Welcome Home in 2021 with subsequent additions to the franchise including Fixer Upper: The Castle in 2022 and Fixer Upper: The Hotel in 2023.
"And so now I think with this lakehouse, there's something about it that just feels significant," Joanna continues. "That this project landed on our 10-year Fixer anniversary."
"It kind of feels like," Joanna starts with Chip finishing, "like it was really meant to be."
The official trailer for the six-episode series debuted May 20.
"When Fixer Upper premiered ten years ago, we couldn't have imagined the journey we had ahead of us. Though a lot has changed and evolved in the decade between then and now, our love for home is still at the heart of everything we do," said Chip and Joanna in a recent press release. "We feel honored that we get to continue pouring into the stories of these homes across Waco, and we're excited to share our latest project with you this summer with Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse."
Fixer Upper: The Lakehouse premieres Sunday, June 2 at 8 p.m. PT/ET on Magnolia Network and HGTV -- and streaming on Max and Discovery+ -- with double episodes each week.
