Blake Shelton gets a little push to pop the question to Gwen Stefani.
On Wednesday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the daytime talk show host shares with Shelton how she gave Jennifer Lopez a clock to give to Alex Rodriguez to remind him that the "clock is ticking." Not long after Lopez received the gift, the former MLB pro proposed.
DeGeneres decided to try this tactic again with Shelton and Stefani. "So, Mother's Day is coming up and I have something for you to give to her," she tells the 42-year-old country crooner before gifting him with a clock that has a photo of him and Stefani kissing on it.
Shelton excitedly accepts the gift while pondering, "So you're saying ...there's a chance she's going to ask me to marry her? You're saying with this clock."
He quips, "You see how I flipped it around and put it on her?"
"Now that she knows that you're waiting for her to ask, now that she's sees this, she'll ask you," DeGeneres explains. "I'll call her tonight."
Shelton and Stefani have been dating since 2015, after meeting when they both were coaches on The Voice. The "I'll Name the Dogs" singer has hinted at taking the relationship to the next level. When ET asked Shelton if the 49-year-old rocker was his "forever" person, he exclaimed, "I would like to think so, come on. This is romance around here, of course!"
ET also chatted with Shelton at the Ugly Dolls premiere over the weekend, and he mused that he was gaining "cool points" with Stefani's three sons thanks to the film. Here's more with the musician:
