Wiz Khalifa appeared to smoke marijuana on stage at the Beach, Please! Festival on Saturday.
Wiz Khalifa is issuing a mea culpa after making a drug-related misstep during a recent performance in Romania. The 36-year-old rapper was escorted off stage and reportedly charged with illegal drug possession for smoking marijuana on stage at the Beach, Please! Festival on Saturday in the Romanian village of Costinești.
"Last nights show was amazing. I didn’t mean any disrespect to the country of Romania by lighting up on stage," Khalifa wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday. "They were very respectful and let me go. I'll be back soon. But without a big ass joint next time."
In a video shared on social media, Khalifa can be seen surrounded by officials as he exits the venue.
According to a translated press release from DIICOT, Romania's anti-organized crime prosecutors, Khalifa "possessed over 18 grams of cannabis (risk drug) and consumed (onstage) another amount of cannabis under the shape of a craft cigarette."
The statement continues, "We make it clear that, during the entire criminal process, the investigated persons benefit from the procedural rights and guarantees provided by the Code of Criminal Procedure, as well as the presumption of innocence."
The news comes as Khalifa is currently expecting his second child, his first with girlfriend Aimee Aguilar. The couple previously announced that Aguilar is pregnant with a baby girl.
Khalifa also shares a son, 11-year-old Sebastian Taylor, with his ex, Amber Rose.
The musician and Aguilar have remained very private about their relationship, but have been romantically linked for around five years. Khalifa first appeared in a photo with Aguilar on her Instagram account in October 2019, and have largely stayed out of the spotlight. However, they were recently photographed together in coordinating camo looks while out and about in Los Angeles.
Khalifa released a series of mixtapes last year. He later headlined the Late Night in Palomino event at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in April.
The artist is next scheduled to hit the stage in Las Vegas at Drai's Beachclub & Nightclub on Aug. 30 and 31.
