MIley Cyrus opened up about her uncertainty over having children.
Motherhood isn't necessarily a dream Miley Cyrus is creaming.
The 31-year-old Disney alum revealed in a new interview with W that she's undecided about having children. "I look at myself almost every day in the mirror and I say, 'I am a woman.' I’m 31 now, and I still don’t know if I want kids or not," she says.
While she has not had any biological children yet, the longtime singer, who has been dating musician Maxx Morando for more than two years, likened her fan base to filling a similar role.
"I feel like my fans kind of are my kids in some way. I've heard Dolly say that too, because she didn’t have kids," she tells the magazine, referencing her famous godmother, Dolly Parton.
Cyrus has previously expressed her hesitation about potentially having children. In 2019, shortly before her divorce from Liam Hemsworth, she cited environmental issues as the reason she was holding off on becoming a mom.
"We've been doing the same thing to the earth that we do to women. We just take and take and expect it to keep producing. And it's exhausted. It can't produce. We’re getting handed a piece-of-s**t planet, and I refuse to hand that down to my child," she told Elle at the time. "Until I feel like my kid would live on an earth with fish in the water, I’m not bringing in another person to deal with that."
The following year, in an interview on SiriusXM Hits 1's The Morning Mash Up, Cyrus reportedly said marriage and children were not top of mind.
"I never really cared that much. I am sure that my fans are going to pull up me at 12 saying, 'Oh I want to have kids,' but like I don't," she said at the time, "as a 27-year-old woman that would have a little bit more of a realistic idea of what they want."
Added the "Used to Be Young" singer, "That has never been kind of my priority."
