Victoria Monét Walks GRAMMYs Red Carpet With Her 2-Year-Old Daughter Hazel, Who Is Also a Nominee

The GRAMMY winner gets emotional while reacting to the congratulations message from close friend Ariana Grande.

Victoria Monét is showing off exactly what she got from her mama on the 2024 GRAMMY Awards red carpet alongside the cutest plus one, her daughter, Hazel!

Victoria is one of the most-nominated artists at Sunday night's show, having earned seven nods when the nominations were announced in November. Her daughter, whom she shares with partner John Gaines, made history by becoming the youngest GRAMMY nominee ever, just shy of her third birthday. The tot is nominated for Best Traditional R&B Performance for her role as a featured artist on her mom's track, "Hollywood," alongside the iconic Earth, Wind & Fire.

The mother-daughter duo made it a matching affair with their Versace dresses: Victoria wearing a fitted, brown gown with a corset bodice, topped by a stunning Bulgari necklace to go along with Hazel's satin gown.

"[It's] custom Versace styled by Collin Carter," Victoria tells ET's Nischelle Turner. "I'm so appreciative [and] thankful that they were willing to do both of our dresses -- mommy-daughter dresses."

The singer has already snagged two out of her seven nominations, having won Best R&B Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for Jaguar II. Victoria was facing off against heavy hitters in the R&B game, including Babyface, Summer Walker, Emily King and Coco Jones.

"I found out in the car on the way here, and I'm shook," Victoria confesses. "I'm like, wow, what a great start to the night! My song just went No. 1 on Rhythmic Radio. I'm like, what a day."

It's been a triumphant rise for the singer-songwriter since making her real breakthrough as a performer with the release of her first official studio album, Jaguar II, in August. The album was supported by three singles, "Smoke" with Lucky Daye, "Party Girls" with Buju Banton, and "On My Mama."

"On My Mama," which samples the 2009 rap hit "I Look Good" by Chalie Boy, became Monét's most successful solo track to date, hitting No. 58 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 18 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

"You know, I always did want to be one of those people who had a song that eventually annoys people 'cause it's played so much, and I think maybe we're like a month out from that place," Victoria quips of the song's massive success via streaming and on social media. "You're like, 'Turn On My Mama off!'"

She continues to share her gratitude to her team and the fans for their work on spreading the song, adding, "But I'm so happy my radio team has been killing it; my manager and I really attribute a lot of the success to the viral dances, so Sean Bankhead and the dancers that were in the music video really brought it to life. And everyone who decided to recreate it and do it with their families that's what makes it a collaborative effort with the fans to make it feel very, very big."

Victoria's fans aren't the only ones showing their support for the singer-songwriter. Ariana Grande, her close friend and frequent collaborator, took to her Instagram Story to say congratulations to the singer.

"I am so deeply proud of you and happy for you there are no words," Ariana wrote. "You have worked so hard and given so much of yourself to this industry for so, so long while quietly being in your absolute own league."

"We've talked about this happening since the day we met and over many tour bus sleepovers," the "Yes, And?" singer added. "It is the greatest joy to see the goodness you have poured into others, into your collaborators (I am so incredibly lucky to be one of them) over the years pouring right back into you. Happy does not begin to cover it. This is your motherf MOMENT!!!!!"

Victoria, growing visibly emotional as she read Ariana's message, decided to send her own to the Wicked star from the red carpet. "Oh my god, I love you, Ari. If you're hearing this, I love you so much; thank you for being a believer and supporting me from the very beginning," she says. "You knew things that other people didn't know and saw things in me that other people didn't see and you've just been so ride or die. So, this is my love letter to you. Thank you so much, I'm gonna tell you in person obviously, but I love you."

Although the music industry is finally catching on to the fact that Victoria is a musical genius, the singer actually got her start years ago as a songwriter and has had major success in that arena, working with artists like Ariana Grande, Nas, Blackpink, Fifth Harmony, T.I., GOOD Music, Lupe Fiasco, Chrisette Michele, and Coco Jones.

After releasing four EPs between 2014-18, Monét began work on what would become her debut album. She released the first part, an EP titled Jaguar, in August 2020, which featured singles "A** Like That" and "Experience," featuring DJ Khaled and Khalid.

Victoria recently told Variety that she'd thought about quitting the business often.

"At the time I questioned it so much: Like, what is it about me that's so lackluster? Why aren't people seeing me?" she admitted. "It was even to the point where I would sing demos and try to sound really great so rappers would keep me on the hook. I feel like maybe even that is a part of what was so hard. I had something to prove. It wasn't just handed to me. So it's all a part of why I think things are coming to fruition now: It's just time. It's almost like, 'Alright girl -- you didn't give up. We're going to give you something.' "

And now, Victoria is up for the prestigious Best New Artist award, in addition to Record of the Year and Best R&B Song for "On My Mama," Best R&B Performance for "How Does It Make You Feel," Best Traditional R&B Performance for "Hollywood," a collaboration with Earth, Wind & Fire and Hazel Monét, as well as Best R&B Album and Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical, for Jaguar II.
