'Guys, I am not dating Tom Cruise. This is literally insane,' Victoria Canal wrote, denying romance rumors with the actor.
Victoria Canal wants to make one thing clear: She is not dating Tom Cruise!
The 25-year-old Spanish-American singer-songwriter shut down rumors that she's dating the 62-year-old actor when Page Six and other tabloids reported that the two may have sparked a romance after they met at the Glastonbury Festival in England earlier this summer.
On Monday, Canal commented on the outlet's Instagram post about the romance rumors, writing, "Guys, I am not dating Tom Cruise. This is literally insane lol."
Canal then made her own lengthy Instagram post disputing the rumors. She shared a shocked photo of herself with her hand over her mouth, along with screenshots of the false reports.
"guys, this is literally bonkers, but apparently the tabloids think i am dating tom cruise. i'm deceased.💀 let's just stop this in its tracks," she wrote. "I'm sorry to bum u out but i am not dating the man, albeit a lovely person & artist. lol never thought I would have to clarify that out loud in my life."
The Chris Martin protégée was born without a right forearm and hand due to a condition called amniotic band syndrome. She joked that a "huge perk" to the gossip is that it marks the "first time I'm Spanish-American singer Victoria Canal and not one-armed pianist whose name remains unmentioned!!!! there's always a win somewhere, thanks Tom."
She concluded, "in all seriousness guys, tom has been nothing but a respectful and encouraging person and mentor, much like chris martin, my dad, my music teachers and other wise people that have learned a lot from living. and again, i am friends with all kinds of people who are very different to me. you learn a lot if you're open to life bringing you those teachers."
Canal performed with Coldplay on stage in late June at the Glastonbury Festival in England, where Cruise was spotted taking in the performance from a VIP area. Not long after the initial meeting, Cruise and Canal traveled to the Twisters premiere in London together via helicopter, which the Top Gun star was piloting.
"not tom cruise flying me & my brother in a heli to the @twistersmovie premiere !!!! lolol," Canal captioned an Instagram carousel in part, which was posted on July 9.
Canal shared photos and videos of her travels, but commenters were more interested in how she met Cruise and why he treated her to a helicopter ride.
"We met backstage at [Glastonbury Festival] and talked abt the upcoming premiere we were both going to and he said, 'roll with me! I'll take you guys in the heli!' lol," Canal wrote in response to one comment.
Another commenter said, "Didn't see that one coming," and Canal wrote back, "hahah neither did i 😂."
The two were then spotted traveling together via a helicopter that Cruise was flying in London on July 12. They also attended Bruce Springsteen's sold-out show at Wembley Stadium and enjoyed the concert from the VIP area.
In an Instagram post with Springsteen, Canal and Cruise commemorating the night, Canal described Cruise as "the most random friend i've ever made ! xxxx" Emphasis on friend!
