Zooey Deschanel Jumps to TV in 'New Girl'
Zooey Deschanel, a darling of the independent movie industry, is making the jump to television this fall in the new FOX comedy New Girl and she assured ET's Mark Steines that she'll be bringing her quirkiness with her.
Zooey plays Jess, a woman who's getting over her ex boyfriend's infidelity by moving into a new apartment with three guys she's never met. The character is so unique that a new adjective has been created to describe her - adorkable.
"I think it's a mixture of adorable and dorky," Zooey explained. "It's a compound compliment."
Right from the pilot episode, available to view on Hulu, the cast displays a chemistry that was credited to great writing and long shooting days.
"We have great writers with Liz Meriwether at the top of it," said Jake M. Johnson. "And we also like each other."
Zooey Deschanel admitted that she is anxious for the show's premiere on Tuesday, September 20, especially with their primetime slot following Glee.
