Scotty McCreery Strikes 'American Idol' Jackpot

"American Idol" has gone country with Scotty McCreery winning the title over southern belle Lauren Alaina.

Host Ryan Seacrest announced at the beginning of the finale that a record number of votes were cast—over 122 million. The total amount of votes over the course of the season amounts to almost ¾ billion.

Fellow finalists smothered Scotty with hugs and kisses as he savored the moment. To celebrate, he ate the falling confetti at the end of his victory performance.

The 10th season of "American Idol" culminated in a star-studded broadcast on Wednesday night on Fox.
