The 73rd annual Tony Awards, hosted by James Corden, will recognize the best of Broadway’s 2018-19 season.
Broadway got an early start on Tuesday morning, when Bebe Neuwirth and Brandon Victor Dixon announced the 2019 Tony Award nominees live from the New York Public Library for Performing Arts at Lincoln Center.
Hadestown is the most recognized new musical -- and most-nominated show this year -- with 14 nominations, while The Ferryman is the most nominated original play, up for 9 awards. The other most-nominated productions include Ain't Too Proud - The Life and Times of the Temptations with 12, Tootsie with 11 and To Kill a Mockingbird with 9.
There's no shortage of star power, with Adam Driver (Burn This), Annette Bening (All My Sons), Bryan Cranston (Network), Jeff Daniels (To Kill a Mocking Bird) and Laurie Metcalf (Hillary and Clinton) all recognized for their performances this season.
The 73rd annual Tony Awards, hosted by James Corden, will recognize the best of Broadway’s 2018-19 season, when the ceremony airs live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, June 9 only on CBS.
