Tom Brady Defends Travis Kelce for Yelling at Chiefs Coach Andy Reid at Super Bowl: 'Emotions Are So High'

'Emotions are so high,' the former NFL player said.

Tom Brady is speaking out in defense of Travis Kelce. After the Kansas City Chiefs tight end made headlines for pushing and yelling at head coach Andy Reid during Super Bowl LVIII, the NFL legend spoke out about the moment on his podcast.

"There's always little family issues and of course I don't mind seeing it 'cause I was a part of a lot of those things," Brady said during the season finale of SiriusXM's Let's Go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray. "Emotions are so high. You are definitely not centered and balanced. You're not in a meditative state at that point. You are fully determined to go out there and to win."

"So I think a lot of the things that are said during the games, people should just let them fly off their back," he continued. "And I actually think Coach Reid handled it just awesome, like he always does, 'cause he just said, 'I was a little off balance and Travis is such a competitor.' And I love that because it just speaks to his leadership ability."

Brady added, "It speaks to the self-confidence that Coach Reid has in himself, too, 'cause he doesn't take that personally at all. He doesn't look at that and feel like someone offended him. He takes it for what it is and doesn't make it more than it is and doesn't see someone's trying to belittle him. Travis is not trying to do any of those things. He's just trying to be fired up and stay in the moment."

Indeed, after the tense sideline moment, Reid told reporters of Kelce, "He keeps me young. [He] tested that hip out. He caught me off-balance, normally I give him a little bit, but I didn't have any feet under me."

"He was emotional today. I have five kids so I get how that goes," Reid added. "The part I love is he loves to play the game and he wants to help his team win. And it's not a selfish thing, that's not what it is. And I understand that. So as much as he bumps into me, I get after him and we understand that. He just caught me off-balance."

As for how Kelce responded to the moment, he quipped, "Oh, you guys saw that?"

"I'm gonna keep it between us unless my mic-up tells the world, but I was just telling him how much I love him," he joked, before praising his coach as "unbelievable."

"I've got the greatest coach this game has ever seen… He's one of the best leaders of men I've ever seen in my life," Kelce said. "He's helped me a lot with channeling that emotion, with channeling that passion, and I owe my entire career to that guy being out of control in how emotional I get. I just love him."

The Chiefs ended the big game victorious, topping the San Francisco 49ers 25 to 22 in overtime. Taylor Swift was on hand to cheer on Kelce, and even joined her boyfriend on the field after the Chiefs' win.

Afterwards, the pair partied the night away in Las Vegas, singing along to Swift's songs in a club, hanging out with the singer's parents, and dining on chicken fingers to end the night.
