Jennifer Meyer reportedly spoke out against a commenter who accused her ex-husband, Tobey Maguire, of dating a 20-year-old model.
Tobey Maguire's ex-wife, Jennifer Meyer, appears to be coming to his defense. The 49-year-old Spider-Man star was photographed with 20-year-old model Lily Chee at Michael Rubin's famous White Party in the Hamptons on July 4th, prompting lots of raised eyebrows at their age difference.
In one photograph, Maguire is pictured with his hand seemingly on Chee's waist while dressed, as per the dress code, in an all-white look. Chee is wearing a white dress with a waist-high lace-up slit.
Amid criticism, one unexpected voice is speaking up in defense of Maguire, his ex-wife, Meyer. According to a screenshot on Reddit from a seemingly since-deleted comment, Meyer shot back at someone who asked why her ex-husband was "banging someone 3 years older than your daughter."
Maguire and Meyer share 17-year-old daughter Ruby Sweetheart Maguire and 15-year-old son Otis Tobias Maguire.
According to the Reddit screenshot, Meyer replied to the commenter, writing, "I don't usually respond to such nonsense, but he was kindly helping a friend to her car. Being a good guy. And now he has blasted online for dating someone he is not. But thank you for your rude comment, I hope it made you feel better today. Wishing you love and light."
Chee has not publicly commented on the speculation, but did post a series of Instagram pics from the star-studded gathering, none of which featured Maguire.
"fun fun fun for the 4th 🙏🎆🎇🇺🇸," she captioned the photos.
Maguire and Meyer were married in 2007, calling in quits in 2016. Meyer filed for divorce in 2020.
During a 2022 podcast interview on World's First Podcast, Meyer praised Maguire while discussing their split.
"I was able to make a conscious decision about how this breakup was going to go and trust that the universe had my back, had our back as a couple for our children, for all of these things, and really, it's been the most beautiful experience of my life having this beautiful breakup," she shared at the time. "I mean, I can't even explain. I would literally do anything in the world for Tobey. He is my brother. I love him to death and we have the most beautiful family."
