TJ Holmes, Amy Robach Recall How 'Good Morning America' Coworkers Treated Them After Hearing of Their Romance

T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach reveal the 'Good Morning America' co-worker who supported them after their romance became public.

T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach had some real -- and fake -- support from their Good Morning America co-workers after news of their private romance came out in 2022

On the latest episode of the Amy & T.J. podcast, which was filmed live, they responded to an audience member who asked how their ABC/Good Morning America co-workers treated them after finding out about their private romance with the rest of the world, which led to them losing their jobs and going public with their respective divorces from Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig -- who are now in a relationship.

"So we went back to work for two days after that tabloid that shall not be named released those photos," Robach explained. "As we pointed out, just discovering us in a private relationship. They did not catch us cheating, that was not what happened. But when we came back for those two days, we were surrounded with support. My dressing room was full of our colleagues."

"Some fake," Holmes interjected. "Some of it fake, absolutely some of it B.S."

Robach continued, "But once it was clear that we weren't coming back, I never heard from most people again."

Together, Holmes and Robach were the lead anchors of GMA3. After parting with the company months after their romance was revealed, Holmes and Robach were replaced by Eva Pilgrim and DeMarco Morgan.

Holmes shared that he understands the colleagues who felt the need to keep their distance following the drama.

"We get that for a certain degree," he said. "Everybody is trying to hold on to their jobs, they don't want to be seen as an ally for two people that ABC News doesn't like. We get it for a certain degree, and for us, we stayed away from some of our former colleagues because we were worried about them."

However, there was one person from the network in particular that Holmes said always had their backs, and to this day tells them to stop hiding their love -- Good Morning America anchor Michael Strahan.

"I don't think he would mind us saying this but we had lunch with Stray last week, you wouldn't believe the effort we put into it with Strahan," Holmes said. "Like, 'You come in and we'll come in after.' And we sat down with him and we were being apologetic and he was like, 'You idiots, stop. You have to stop thinking that way.'"

He added, "This is a guy we have been close to for 10 years now and even we didn't want to get whatever our stank is on him for some reason. We struggled to get out of the mindset, but friends like that help and time helps."

Robach revealed that it wasn't as easy for her, as she read the comments and noticed how her former co-workers and network treated her.

"I used to say, 'It's not like I murdered someone,'" she recalled. "But that's definitely how it seemed if you read comments anywhere from all of these articles."

Since the news of their relationship went public, Holmes and Robach have not been shy about putting the ups and downs of their relationship on display during their weekly podcast. The couple has also made red carpet appearances and attended public events with each other.

As for their exes, Fiebig and Shue, their relationship was revealed in December, but a source told ET that the pair is just trying to keep things low-key.

"Initially, they had no interest in each other, but bonded over the trauma from their respective breakups," a source told ET at the time.

"Andrew and Marilee are taking things slow in their new romance, and trying to lay low in the midst of their very public breakups," the source explained. "The two find solace in one another, and have enjoyed getting to know each other away from the noise."
