ET exclusively debuts a first look from the penultimate episode of the season, airing Monday.
Desperate times call for desperate measures on The Resident.
On Monday's penultimate episode of the season, titled "Broker and Broker," Nic (Emily VanCamp) reaches the end of the rope when she's left to consider a dangerous last resort in hopes of saving her sick sister, Jessie (Julianna Guill), who is in dire need of a kidney transplant.
After their father turns down a frantic request to donate his kidney after Jessie fails to get on the Chastain Park Memorial Hospital transplant list, Nic's colleague Alec (Miles Gaston Villanueva) suggests they meet with a "transplant expert." The idea isn't exactly ideal for Nic, but what option does she have left if she wants to save her sister's life?
In ET's exclusive clip, Nic and Alec meet this "transplant expert," Elliot Festervan (guest star John Noble), and already red flags abound.
"It's midnight," Nic says cautiously, prompting Alec to reassure her that this is kosher. Sort of. "You meet him when you can," he says in response.
As if on cue, Elliot makes his arrival known moments later and things seem above board -- until Nic asks him which hospital he's associated with.
"I don't work with any hospital," Elliot says slowly, causing Nic to nervously ask Alec, "OK, what's going on here?"
"You haven't told her?" Elliot asks Alec, who shakes his head slowly, unsure of how Nic will receive this.
"I'm an organ broker. I'm here to sell you a kidney," Elliot says. Is Nic, arguably the moral compass of Chastain, seriously contemplating turning to the black market to save her sister? Watch ET's exclusive sneak peek below.
