The cast of the beloved reality show reunited at the MTV VMAs to tease the big announcement.
This isn’t something you see all that often!
Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Stephanie Pratt, Justin Bobby and Jason Wahler, from the hit MTV reality series The Hills, reunited on the red carpet ahead of the the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards.
The group first came together during MTV's pre-show event to tease a big announcement they'd be making later in the evening. While they couldn't share much at the time, they got fans pumped for the possibility of a Hills revival.
During the show, MTV confirmed the speculation when they released a teaser trailer for the new season, The Hills: New Beginnings, which will follow the original stars, their children and their lives in Los Angeles years after the original series came to a close. The revival is slated to premiere in 2019.
Notably absent from the red carpet reunion on Monday were Hills stars Kristin Cavallari, Lauren Conrad, Brody Jenner and Whitney Port.
However, the nostalgic moment comes after Cavallari admitted in February on Montag’s podcast with hubby Spencer Pratt, Make Speidi Famous Again, that she was totally on board for a Hills reunion, no matter who was involved.
“I would love nothing more than a Hills reunion. I think it would be so much fun,” she said, before adding, “Yeah, with or without all the cast members is fine with me.”
This is a clear reference to her famous feud with co-star Lauren Conrad. As fans know, Conrad is keeping busy with her 1-year-old son, Liam, who celebrated his birthday last month, as well as her growing fashion empire.
Fans will also remember that Conrad hosted The Hills: That Was Then, This Is Now, a 10th anniversary special without the rest of the cast, which understandably ruffled some feathers.
So what would it take for the likes of Cavallari and Conrad to finally patch things up after all these years? The former answered that very question during a visit to Watch What Happens Life With Andy Cohen in July. That’s where she admitted that if she doesn’t make the first move, she and Conrad will likely never make amends.
Fans will just have to wait and see if Conrad and the rest of the cast can someday let bygones be bygones. See more on The Hills in the video below.
