The CBS All Access series will return for another season.
Diane Lockhart is ready for Round 4.
The Good Fight, the spinoff to The Good Wife, has been renewed for a fourth season, CBS All Access announced Tuesday. The original series stars Christine Baranski, Cush Jumbo, Rose Leslie, Audra McDonald, Sarah Steele, Michael Boatman, Nyambi Nyambi, new addition Michael Sheen and Delroy Lindo.
“The Good Fight is in the middle of an incredible third season and continues to be a flagship original series for the service,” said Julie McNamara, Executive Vice President of Original Content at CBS All Access in a statement. “Its visionary creators Robert and Michelle King and the extraordinary cast continue to explore the cultural climate with insight, humor and courage, and we can’t wait to see where these indelible characters go next.”
The world went crazy in The Good Fight’s second season and in season three, the resistance does. Diane Lockhart (Baranski) tries to figure out whether you can resist a crazy administration without going crazy yourself, while Adrian Boseman (Lindo) and Liz Reddick-Lawrence (McDonald) struggle with a new post-factual world where the lawyer who tells the best story triumphs over the lawyer with the best facts. Meanwhile, Lucca Quinn (Jumbo) balances a new baby with a new love and Maia Rindell (Leslie) finds a new Mephistopheles in Roland Blum (Sheen), a lawyer who is corruption incarnate.
Ahead of the third season, McDonald spoke with ET about how The Good Fight is toeing the line of political lunacy with creative storytelling.
"Because we're in a post-factual world and post-ethical world, as far as the Trump universe [is concerned] and it's certainly the universe in which The Good Fight takes place. Trump is definitely president and affecting them professionally and emotionally and psychologically on a daily basis," McDonald told ET in January.
"I think the line is being moved all the time in real time, in real life and on The Good Fight with these characters. What's ethical now? What's factual? What matters? What is going to create the most change, or help in terms of survival in this world? They're going to be pushed up against that question a lot this season. Liz especially because things that she wouldn't necessarily think are right or legal, because they're not legal, it might still be the right thing to do ethically. There's a lot of challenge with that as they learn how to resist."
New episodes of The Good Fight are available to stream Thursdays on CBS All Access, with the season three finale dropping Thursday, May 16. The first two seasons are available to stream on CBS All Access.
