'The Golden Bachelorette's first-ever leading lady surprised her family by telling them what they can expect from her season.
Joan Vassos shocked her family with a hilarious statement. In a new promo for the inaugural season of The Golden Bachelorette, the first-ever leading lady tells her family her PDA plans while on her journey for love.
The video starts by showing Joan working in the kitchen with her mom, Mary, and mother-in-law, Elaine, whose son, John, died in 2021 after a cancer battle. He was 59.
Joan's daughter Ally, son Nick, and his fiancée, Brooke, enter the kitchen next, with the former asking how Joan feels about kissing another man on TV.
"Oh jeez," the mom of four replies. "I'm going to have to get used to that because you don't want to be with somebody that you don't like to kiss, so you have to try it out. I'm probably going to kiss a fair amount of guys on camera. I'm sorry, guys."
"A fair amount?" Nick responds in surprise, which Ally quickly seconds, telling her mom, "We were not expecting that answer."
The whole family gathers around the dinner table next, where they offer Joan advice on good questions to ask her suitors.
Nick suggests asking about their three top priorities in life, Elaine says she should find out if they like to travel, and Boomer, one of Joan's three grandkids, wants to know the men's favorite dinosaur.
"Well, obviously," Joan quips in response.
As for her must-haves in a man, Joan tells her family that she wants a generous, humble gentleman with a big heart.
"Whoever that guy is," Nick tells his mom, "we want you to be happy."
Joan ends the video by proposing a toast, as she tells her family, "Thank you so much for all of your support. I'm not here to replace Dad. I just want our family to be whole again. Cheers to a great adventure."
When ET spoke to Joan in June, she revealed how she believes her late husband had a hand in getting her into Bachelor Nation.
"I feel like he maybe had a little hand in me actually getting here, honestly," Joan told ET. "He told me right before he passed away, 'You need to go out and find somebody else. You were the best wife in the world and I want you to be happy.' He gave me this wonderful gift before he died, and he said go and do something, and so here I am."
When it comes to what John would think of her upcoming journey, Joan said, "He loved reality TV. He was a dive in with both feet to anything you do [kind of person]," she said. "I think he's up there going, 'Look, that's my wife down there. She's doing this.'"
The series premiere of The Golden Bachelorette will air Wednesday, Sept. 18 on ABC.
