The explosive season 14 finale of 'RHONJ' featured Louie Ruelas making controversial remarks about Margaret Josephs’ son.
Teresa Giudice’s husband, Louie Ruelas, expressed regret for his controversial remarks about Margaret Josephs’ son during the explosive finale of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
On Tuesday, Ruelas took to his Instagram story to address the backlash, saying, "The finale was very tough for me to watch and I wanted to address it with you all. After watching the finale, I was disappointed in my actions in bringing up Margaret Josephs' son. The reason he was even brought up was because I have been dealing with being falsely accused of calling Margaret's son at work, which is simply not true. For the last year, Margaret kept putting this narrative out there that I called her son at work, and I have had to deal with it knowing I am being lied on."
Ruelas, 49, continued, "Still, I know better than to bring someone’s child up, and it is something I deeply regret. So, I do want to apologize and acknowledge that I was wrong. There’s been a lot of toxicity on the show that has affected everyone. We have been dealing with a lot of frustrating things behind the scenes, and it has been very hard for our entire family and my children, who have been really impacted by all that’s happened at the hands of certain people. Two wrongs don’t make a right, and I deeply regret saying what I said."
During the season 14 finale of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Ruelas made a polarizing comment while discussing the ongoing feud with Giudice before her explosive "Last Supper" with her co-stars. Ruelas expressed his frustration, stating, "Tell her to stay away from our family. And you know what? I hope Margaret and her family suffer. You know, I hope her f**king son suffers the way I suffered, the way other people in our family have suffered."
This statement came after Giudice accused Josephs of talking to one of Ruelas’ exes and spreading negative allegations about him. Giudice, 52, supported her husband's sentiments, adding that their “kids suffered” due to Josephs’ alleged actions.
The intense scene sparked a significant backlash from viewers. Social media was flooded with criticism of Ruelas' comment, with many pointing out that Josephs’ son has chosen not to appear on the show.
Giudice also faced backlash for her criticism of Josephs’ husband, Joe Benigno, for working as a "f**king plumber."
Giudice and Ruelas, who married in August 2022, have been feuding with Josephs for years, accusing her of digging up dirt on Ruelas by talking to his ex. However, the finale revealed that Jackie Goldschneider was the first cast member to speak with Ruelas’ ex.
Despite this revelation, Giudice remained upset with Josephs and did not seem to care that Goldschneider, 47, had admittedly met with the unnamed woman.
One final episode of this season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey airs next Sunday, Aug. 11, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo, featuring the women watching back the explosive finale and adding behind-the-scenes commentary, in lieu of a traditional reunion. Episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
