The MTV reality star is opening up about his personal struggles.
Tyler Baltierra is getting real about his struggles with mental health.
The Teen Mom OG star visibly held back tears in an emotional video message to his 2.2 million Instagram followers on Monday.
"Sometimes you just don’t even really know what to say to your children. I don’t ever cry in front of [my daughter] Nova or anything. I don’t want her to feel any of that," he confessed. "You have good days, then you have bad days. And today is just a bad day."
Baltierra, 26, encouraged others to seek help, and continued, "I know I’m not the only one feeling like this. So if you’re in the same boat as me, just hang in there, and you’re not alone and talk to somebody."
The MTV personality, who shares 3-year-old daughter Novalee with his wife, Catelynn Lowell, also stated that he debated deleting the clip entirely, but quickly changed his mind.
"If I can at least connect with one person through this & let them know that they aren’t alone in their struggles. It will make being vulnerable worth it," he wrote.
The reality star added, "I’m posting this because I think it’s important for people to not feel alone in their struggles. We’re humans, we’re allowed to have bad days, hard times & weak moments. Don’t be ashamed of what makes us humans special. You’re loved. You’re worthy."
After a fan on Twitter suggested that Baltierra's emotional message could be due to cheating allegations against the star, he shot back, "Omg! That wasn’t AT ALL what I was upset about. I was upset because it’s difficult when Nova cries out for her mommy & I have to keep explaining why she’s not here to hug her tears away!"
The couple have long been open about their mental health struggles, as the 25-year-old Lowell, who battled postpartum depression, told fans in January that she is seeking in-patient treatment a third time to deal with childhood trauma.
