The pop star's 11th studio effort sold more than 2.6 million copies and is the most-streamed album ever in its first week.
From "Mastermind" to mind blown. Taylor Swift is speaking out and sharing her gratitude after a massive, record-breaking debut for her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.
"My mind is blown. I'm completely floored by the love you've shown this album," she wrote in an Instagram caption on Sunday, sharing a handful of behind the scenes photos from the recording process. Earlier, Billboard announced that TTPD had made a historic debut atop its Billboard 200 albums chart with 2.61 million equivalent album units earned in the U.S. for its opening week.
"2.6 million ARE YOU ACTUALLY SERIOUS??" Swift continued. "Thank you for listening, streaming, and welcoming Tortured Poets into your life. Feeling completely overwhelmed."
Billboard reports that the album sold more than 1.9 million copies across traditional formats, including digital downloads, CDs, vinyl, and cassettes, and generated more than 891 million on-demand streams.
The outlet notes that, with 859,000 copies of the album sold on vinyl, it is the largest sales week for an album in that format in the modern era.
As for streaming, Billboard adds that TTPD has been streamed more times in one week than any other album in history.
Swift has now earned her 14th chart topper, extending her own record for the most No. 1 albums for a female artist and tying Jay-Z's record for the most No. 1s by a solo artist. When it comes to all-time No. 1s, The Beatles still hold that record with a whopping 19.
The news comes as Swift is gearing up to resume her blockbuster Eras Tour in Paris, France, on May 9.
"I was already so fired up to get back to the tour but you doing THIS?? May 9th can’t come soon enough," she gushed on Instagram.
For context, Swift has debuted at No. 1 on the chart with every original and rerecorded album since her sophomore effort, Fearless, in 2008. She has now topped her own previous best-selling debut, 1989 (Taylor's Version), which has sold more than 1.6 million copies.
Billboard notes that Swift's TTPD ranks third overall in terms of sales weeks in the modern era. Adele's 25 continues to reign supreme, having sold 3.378 million album unit equivalents in December 2015, while *NSYNC's No Strings Attached sold 2.4 million copies in April 2000.
As Billboard continues to release its weekly charts, Swift's reign of success is expected to continue. Throughout her career, Swift has more charting songs on the Hot 100 than any other female artist and is second only to Drake overall.
Swift's 31-track collection -- which turned out to be a surprise double album -- features a hefty helping of heartbreak songs following her splits from Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy, as well as a few sweet love songs amid her current relationship with Travis Kelce.
"She has put her heart and soul into the music, just like with everything she does," a source told ET about the album, "and can't wait for her fans to listen to it and to share it with them."
The songstress had plenty of reason to celebrate over the weekend, as she enjoyed a night out with Kelce at Patrick Mahomes' 15 and the Mahomies Foundation Gala in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Saturday night
An eyewitness told ET that the couple "walked in holding hands and they were affectionate all night" while supporting Mahomes' charity initiative in Sin City. The eventgoer added that throughout the night, there was "lots of kissing and just overall happiness between them, the support is there for one another."
"The two seem to be in good spirits and definitely in love," the source shared.
During the gala, Kelce surprised audience members in a last-minute shakeup when he took the stage to adorably raffle off one more item and shout out Swift.
"I was just talking to my significant other and we might have another auction item that wasn't on the docket," he said slyly. "Has anybody heard of the Eras Tour?"
Swift offered up four tickets to a future show U.S. show, earning a whopping $80,000 for the charity.
