Sofia Richie is starting the year with a new milestone: pregnancy!
In just a matter of months, Sofia Richie will be going by a new name: mom!
The famed daughter of Lionel Richie, who married Elliot Grainge last April, is starting out the year with another milestone -- she's pregnant. She announced the news in an exclusive interview with Vogue, debuting her baby bump in a black-and-white Instagram photo.
"Congratulations are in order for @sofiarichiegrainge!" the caption read. "The star is expecting her first child with her husband, @Elliotgrainge."
"I’ve learned more in the past six months than I have in my entire life,' Sofia tells Vogue exclusively of her journey to motherhood.
Inside the article, Sofia reveals that the couple found out about her pregnancy "very, very early."
"I was about four weeks pregnant. I was on a trip to Milan for fashion week, and I was going to the Prada show. I was doing a really quick 24-hour turnaround, and I felt terrible but didn't think much of it. I thought it was jet lag," she recalls.
After confirming with several pregnancy tests, the couple decided to keep the news to themselves until they were ready to share.
"Pregnancy is really scary and you want to protect that space," she explains. "I didn't realize there are so many milestones you have to hit and so many tests you have to take. For me, it was really important to protect our mental health and our space as a couple."
The model and her music executive husband tied the knot in a lavish wedding ceremony at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France, one that took the internet by storm and sparked viral attention on the 25-year-old influencer.
The nuptials came a year after the couple revealed their engagement in April 2022. "Forever isn’t long enough @Elliot," Sofia captioned her social media announcement at the time.
Following her split from Scott Disick in 2020, ET confirmed Sofia and Elliot's relationship in April 2021.
"They have been friends for years and Elliot is also close with Sofia's brother, Miles," a source said at the time.
Ahead of their pregnancy reveal, the couple rang in Elliot's 30th birthday with a sweet tribute from his other half. "The big 3-0!!!! I am beyond obsessed with you. Happy birthday to the man of my dreams!," Sofia wrote on Instagram. "I can’t wait for a lifetime more @elliotgrainge."
As they embark on this new chapter, it seems Sofia will be able to lean on him through it all. As she previously told ET, "Usually coming to Fashion Week would give me like a little pit in my stomach... Having my man next to me for all of it just makes it smooth and easy and if I ever have that little nervous moment, I know I can look at him and he’ll give me that little 'You’re good’ and that is everything for me."
