Shantel VanSanten and Victor Webster are now divorced, and there's a pet custody agreement in place.
Shantel VanSanten and Victor Webster attended mediation and hammered out a settlement in their divorce that includes a pricy late fee when it comes to their dog, Nova.
According to court documents obtained by ET, the One Tree Hill alum and Hallmark Channel star finalized their divorce more than a year after Webster filed for divorce. As part of the divorce, the former couple will sell their Los Angeles home, though she'll have to fork over $25,000 to equalize the split. Neither will receive spousal support.
But while VanSanten and Webster never had children, there was the matter of settling what happens to their fur babies. The former couple first had two cats -- Finnegan and Phillippa -- and they are now in Webster's brother's custody. Then there's their dog, Nova, whom the former couple rescued in February 2019.
According to the docs, Webster will have custody of Nova and VanSanten will get to visit Nova for an extended period of time. During that time, VanSanten will be required to share Nova's location. Then there's the $10,000 late fee -- if the actress takes Nova longer than three weeks she'll have to fork over $10,000 per day until Nova is returned.
VanSanten has chronicled Nova's life on her Instagram page since the former couple adopted her from a rescue organization in Mexico. The actress shared that Nova was found living in a sewer pipe with her babies and barely surviving. The organization, Acre Dogs, "took them all in, brought them to health and found her babies homes."
On Tuesday, Webster seemingly responded to the headlines about finalizing the divorce. He took to his Instagram Story and posted a quote that read, "Once you grow up, you realize you don't want to be crazy in love. You want to be calm in love, stable in love, patient in love, understood in love, safe in love. Your partner should give you peace of mind and reassurance, not constant little heart attacks and high anxiety."
That post came less than 24 hours after VanSanten also posted a quote letting go, which read, in part, "Let go. Don't allow yourself to get comfortable existing in spaces where you know you deserve better. Love is not meant to hurt. Love is not meant to be given in the bare minimum."
As ET previously reported, Webster and VanSanten separated on Jan. 7, 2023, less than two years after they tied the knot. They met on the set of Hallmark's Love Blossoms in 2016, though they didn't become romantic until the following year.
Webster proposed in February 2021 and they then had three wedding celebrations: a civil ceremony on her grandparent's anniversary date, Aug. 9; an October ceremony in St. Helena, California; and a final ceremony in her hometown of Luverne, Minnesota.
