The 25-year-old singer and actress made headlines after debuting a shocking new undercut on Instagram on Monday, and now her hairstylist is telling ET all about the edgy look.
"I think she just wanted a change," Tim Dueñas of Nine Zero One salon told ET, adding that she seemed really happy with the cut.
The hairstylist had never worked with Gomez before, but received a call from the former Disney star's regular stylist, Marissa Marino, asking if he would assist in creating the style -- which Gomez showed off underneath a long, sleek braided ponytail.
According to Dueñas, an undercut is the perfect fit for someone like Gomez, who is constantly changing up her hairstyle. "It's lower in the corner so that the hair still looks full when down," he explained. "It is also cut so that the grow out is less awkward."
Gomez was all smiles while showing off her cut on Instagram.
