Savannah Guthrie is still recovering from her serious eye injury last month.
The 47-year-old Today show co-anchor was absent for Wednesday's episode of the popular NBC morning show, and Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin explained that she had the day off and is undergoing eye surgery.
"She'd had some laser treatment," Kotb added. "So now she's actually going through the surgery, and she's going to keep us posted. So, we wish for her a very speedy recovery."
In November, Guthrie called in to the Today show and said she tore her retina and she had temporary vision loss after her 2-year-old son, Charley, threw a toy train at her eye.
"It has a really pointed edge and he threw it right at me," she said. "... And then I lost my vision in my right eye about 24 hours later, and then it turned out to be kind of serious. They were afraid my retina was detached."
"I really did lose my vision in my right eye," she continued. " ... It was so blurry from -- not to get too gross -- but there was so much blood inside the eye that it completely blocked my vision."
Still, Guthrie was able to co-host Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with Kotb, when she gave an update on her eye.
"The eye is fine, fine enough to be here!" Guthrie insisted. "I didn't want to miss this parade for anything, so I'm super happy to be here."
Earlier this month, Guthrie told Today viewers that she had undergone five laser treatments to help heal her retina.
"It's weird, because the vision doesn't have a lot do with the injury, but the vision is getting better every day, but it's still blurry," she shared. "Right now, it's like having one contact out. When it first started though, it was a complete blur. I couldn't see anything."
ET last spoke to the mother of two in April at The Hollywood Reporter's Most Powerful People in Media event in New York City, where she explained how her 5-year-old daughter, Vale, has inspired her own body confidence.
