The actress has already nixed the idea of the third installment.
Sarah Jessica Parker is ready to make light of the Sex and the City 3 drama! The 52-year-old actress appeared on The Late Show on Wednesday night to promote her new HBO series, Divorce, when the subject of a third film installment for her most iconic role came up.
Host Stephen Colbert insisted he wouldn’t ask about the potential for a Sex and the City 3, but did question, “What part would I play?”
“Well, there’s an opening!” Parker jokingly replied, laughing.
“Oh, really? Who do I have to act like? What would my character be like?” Colbert coyly asked.
“Well, according to just very recent documentation about why we’re not making it is because the part usually played by Kim Cattrall has been vacated. So, that’s what I mean. Perhaps you’d want to play Samantha?” Parker suggested.
The actress, who helped create the character of Carrie Bradshaw, previously shut down any future for SATC 3 on Sunday night when talking with ET’s Nancy O’Dell on the red carpet at the Golden Globes.
“I mean, not as far as I can imagine. Unless…,” she began before firmly stating, “I mean, no. No. I struggle with it because it’s a bit sad, but I think one must keep these things in perspective. I have a lot of incredible memories, singular memories, that are shared among those four women, and I’m incredibly grateful for the experience.”
If the group were to make a third film, they’d be missing Cattrall, who has previously said she’s done with the franchise.
