Ryan Reynolds reveals the unconventional sleep arrangement he and Blake Lively have with their four children.
Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively recently shared insights into their family life, revealing the unconventional sleep arrangement they have with their four children: James, Betty, Inez and Olin.
The Deadpool & Wolverine star disclosed that bedtime presents a significant challenge in their household. The actor explained on Amanda Hirsch's podcast, Not Skinny But Not Fat, that many of their children "can't even go to sleep unless they're in our bed," leading to a crowded sleeping situation for the couple.
Despite the lack of personal space, Reynolds maintains a positive outlook. "Just say, 'think about what you would give in 30 or 40 years to come back and enjoy this one moment,'" he noted. This perspective helps him embrace the current chaos, acknowledging that "nothing's ever going to be tidy again" until the children leave home.
The couple, who has been married since 2012, recognizes the fleeting nature of this period in their lives. Lively often reminds Reynolds, "They're all under our roof right now. The whole family's under our roof right now. We have them all."
Reynolds also opened up about their youngest child, and revealing his son's name, Olin, during the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere in New York City. He later confirmed Olin is a boy while speaking with a Wrexham AFC fan.
While the couple presents a united front in tackling parenting challenges, Reynolds admitted that the stress does take its toll. "It's OK to be like, '[expletive] I am dying,' because that's going to happen every other day."
During the New York City premiere of Deadpool & Wolverine last week, Reynolds took the stage ahead of the screening -- alongside co-star Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy -- and he thanked the audience while also revealing his son's name.
"I want to start by saying thank you to my wife Blake, who is here," he said while surrounded by his fellow Deadpool & Wolverine cast members. "I want to thank my kids, James, Inez, Betty, Olin, who are here. I hope that, if I'm lucky, this moment will be the most traumatic thing -- that is, the contents of this movie -- that happens in your wondrous life."
Reynolds -- after getting a wave of laughter from the audience -- continued, "I love that my entire family is here."
Hilariously, Reynolds told Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb on Today earlier this year that he and Lively were actually waiting on their good pal, Taylor Swift, to pick out the baby's name. The 34-year-old crooner has worked in their older three daughters' names -- James, Inez and Betty -- into her song lyrics.
And during an appearance on Today in November 2023, Reynolds revealed they do not find out the sex of their babies before they are born. "I know girls, so I'm sort of kind of hoping that," he said ahead of Olin's birth, "but I'm ready for whatever happens."
He later told ET getting ready to welcome baby No. 4, "We're very excited. You know, we'd have to be... You'd have to be a moron to do this four times if you didn't like it. It's gonna be nuts, but we're very excited."
