The Oscar winner takes on Fox News' infamous CEO in an upcoming miniseries.
The story of Fox News' mainstream explosion is getting a dramatization.
On Tuesday, Showtime released the first teaser for The Loudest Voice, the forthcoming miniseries exploring Roger Ailes' hand in the boom of conservative television. Russell Crowe is tackling the role of the political operative who championed the cable news channel.
"We're gonna give them a vision of the world the way they want it to be," the notorious chairman and CEO explains in the frenetic clip, later proclaiming, "We're way past politics, it's war."
The promo also features Ailes launching into a tirade in a conference room, shaking hands with other movers and shakers at a photo op, and groping women.
The forthcoming miniseries is based on the book The Loudest Voice in the Room: How the Brilliant, Bombastic Roger Ailes Built Fox News - and Divided a Country by Gabriel Sherman.
The miniseries also stars Seth MacFarlane, Naomi Watts and Sienna Miller.
After a career in politics, Ailes was tapped by Rupert Murdoch to head up Fox News in the early '90s. He would go on to make the channel a media powerhouse. In 2004, allegations began to surface of sexual harassment from a number of women. They persisted until his resignation in 2016. He died the next year.
This isn't the only upcoming property exploring the conservative media titan. In December, the film Fair and Balanced will arrive in theaters. It explores the encounters with women that led to allegations against Ailes. It stars Allison Janney, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, Kate McKinnon, Charlize Theron, Malcolm McDowell and John Lithgow as Ailes.
The Loudest Voice premieres on June 30 on Showtime.
