Prince Harry Flies High as Newly Appointed Captain
Prince Harry is not one to live in the shadow of his older brother. As Prince William makes headlines for his upcoming nuptials to Kate Middleton, the younger heir accomplished a feat in his military career.
St. James' Palace announced that Prince Harry was promoted to Captain on Thursday, April 14 in the Army Air Corps. Upon completing the first stage of training, he also received his Apache Badge. The prince is now certified to fly the helicopter without an instructor present.
He's progressed to the next phase of training, required to be deemed a fully operational Army Air Corps Pilot. In this stage, he'll be tasked with operating the aircraft and its onboard weapons systems. Although based out of Wattisham Airfield in the U.K., a portion of the course will take place on our side of the pond, in the United States.
