'Riverdale' Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa Reveals This Week’s Episode Will Be Luke Perry’s Last

The news comes nearly two months after Perry died following a massive stroke.

Luke Perry's time on Riverdale has come to an end.

On Sunday, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa took to Twitter to reveal that this week's episode of Riverdale will be the last time fans will see Perry's Fred Andrews on the CW drama. The news comes two months after Perry died at the age of 52 following a massive stroke.

"This week’s #Riverdale is the last episode Luke filmed," Aguirre-Sacasa wrote alongside a photo of Perry as Archie Andrews' (KJ Apa) dad. "As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son."

"Wish these scenes could go on forever...❤️????‍?," he added.

During an appearance on The View last month, Cole Sprouse, Perry's Riverdale co-star, revealed that the show had decided how it would handle Perry's death on screen.

"I can't go too much into the spoilers of it, but we do have something planned narratively,” Sprouse, who plays Jughead Jones on the show, said. "We dedicated some of the episodes to him."

Shortly after Sprouse's statement, ET caught up with Aguirre-Sacasa, who said that the entire Riverdale family was "still in shock and are all still processing and grieving."

"We know that we have to address it in some way, but we’re giving ourselves a little bit of time and space before we figure out the best way to honor him," Aguirre-Sacasa said. "... His spirit -- which was so generous and wise and vivacious -- we hope will infuse every episode, so in my mind, every episode for the rest of time on Riverdale will have a bit of Luke in it."

Perry's finale episode of Riverdale will air Wednesday, April 24 at 8 p.m. ET. Watch the video below for more on Perry's time on the series.
