The singer-turned-actress shared her gratitude for her co-star and dished on the 'humbling' experience of filming the romantic musical.
Rihanna is opening up about her role in the romantic musical Guava Island, and sharing a message of gratitude with co-star Donald Glover.
"Wow! the response to #GuavaIsland has been quite overwhelming. So happy you guys felt the beauty in this film!" the singer-turned-actress wrote on Twitter on Wednesday, along with a musical clip from the film.
Rihanna went on to call Glover -- who also served as a writer and producer on the film -- a "true gem to the culture."
"I’m so proud of you and the work you put into making this film. I felt how close this was to you and your entire team!" she added. "Thank you for trusting me with this role!"
The "Work" singer went on to say that she had "the greatest experience being in Cuba, phones off, present with life and art" and that the whole project was "very humbling."
Guava Island -- which came out last weekend in coordination with Glover's performance as Childish Gambino during the first weekend of Coachella -- is directed by Hiro Murai, who also directed Gambino's groundbreaking "This Is America" music video and the vast majority of episodes of Glover's FX dramedy Atlanta.
Guava Island is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
