Martin's 'She Bangs' was released in 2000.
We have Ricky Martin to thank for Channing Tatum.
In a recent appearance on Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live, Martin reminisced about a significant moment in his and Tatum's careers - Tatum's appearance in Martin's iconic 2000 music video for "She Bangs."
During the show, a curious fan phoned in to ask Martin if he had kept in touch with Tatum since filming the music video.
Martin responded, "Through the internet. I think he said thank you for the first opportunity." Martin's response revealed that the collaboration left a lasting impression on both artists.
Martin went on to share behind-the-scenes anecdotes, revealing that the casting of Tatum for the music video was somewhat serendipitous. "I just told the people from the production of the video to go out scouting and invite everybody to the Bahamas to come spend a week, and that’s what happened, and there he was," Martin recounted.
Tatum's role in the video as a bartender marked his debut in front of the camera, a significant milestone in his burgeoning career.
Tatum previously reflected on his experience working with Martin while promoting his film, The Lost City, alongside Sandra Bullock.
During an interview with WIRED, Tatum disclosed, “My very first job was a Ricky Martin video." Bullock, seemingly surprised by the fact, exclaimed, "You were in a Ricky Martin video?"
Confirmed Tatum, "I was in 'She Bangs.' I was a bartender with face paint and like a mohawk."
Bullock couldn't contain her enthusiasm, admitting, "OK, I didn’t know that. I’m kind of fangirling a bit."
