Reneé Rapp Has a Message for Fans Questioning Her Sexuality: 'If I Say I'm a Lesbian, I Am a Lesbian'

The 'Mean Girls' star has been vocal about her sexuality over the course of her career.

Reneé Rapp is done explaining her sexuality!

On Monday, the Mean Girls star took to X (formally Twitter) to push back at recent social media comments about her sexual orientation. Making sure the message was loud and clear, the 24-year-old singer-actress spelled it out for anyone who has questions.

"If I say I’m a lesbian I am a lesbian and if someone says they’re bi they are bi I’ve had enough of you witches," Rapp wrote.

Her comments were filled with support and praise, and "Snow Angel" singer didn't address the matter further.

Rapp is not shy about discussing her sexuality. In February, during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she talked about how her Sex Lives of College Girls character,  Leighton Murray's, coming out journey had parallels to her real life.

"Look, this is good and bad. Being celebrated for being out because of a TV show or celebrity or success or something was really interesting because I think it forced a lot of people in my life and my family to have to accept me in a weird way, and in some ways that are twisted, like, 'Damn, we could have done that a long time ago without her being on a TV show,'" she said.

Rapp explained that the coming out scene wasn't really acting, as her emotions were raw.

"However, I think it made it a lot easier in ways that pissed me off, but I'm also really grateful for. That [show] was the most parallel experience in my life, and I remember doing that specific coming out scene and not acting at all -- at all. I was just sobbing. I see that and I don’t see a character. I’m like, 'That’s me,'" she shared.

The same month, Rapp appeared on TikTok star Jake Shane's Therapuss podcast and discussed her journey further.

"I just remember being like 14 and being like, 'I think I like girls too.' And all my friends were like, 'No you don't.' And I was like, 'Oh, OK.' Like all I wanted was approval. Also all I wanted specifically, all my friends who were lesbians, all I wanted was their approval."

Rapp further explained that by the time she first started talking about her sexuality in 2020, she had already come out years prior. However, the isolation of the pandemic provided comfort.

"The first time that I ever publicly talked about being gay was in like 2020," she said. "I'd been out for like six years at that point...but I remember it being like a thing like, 'Am I gonna post online that I'm like a little gay?'"

Earlier this month, Rapp seemingly hard launched her relationship with musician Towa Bird. The pair appeared alongside each other during the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscars after-party, weeks after fans online began to speculate that they were together.

While the pair did not publicly confirm their status, they admitted to ET's Denny Directo that they were together for the "fun vibes."

"It's life changing," Rapp said about celebrating Hollywood's biggest night with Bird. "My life has actually changed."
