Prince Harry didn't just pick out his fiancee's engagement ring, he designed it!
Prince Harry made sure his late mother Princess Diana was part of his special day.
The 33-year-old royal proposed to 36-year-old actress Meghan Markle earlier this month, and on Monday morning they made their first appearance as an engaged couple at the Sunken Garden in Kensington Palace. Markle was all smiles as she held hands with her fiance, and flashed her new diamond ring on that finger.
Harry didn't just choose his fiancee's ring, he designed it himself, he bragged during the couple's first joint interview. Two of the diamonds on the band are from Diana's personal collection and another stone is from Botswana, the South African country that Harry often frequents.
Harry is following behind his older brother, Prince William, when it comes to giving his bride-to-be one of his mother's heirlooms. In 2010, William proposed to Kate Middleton with Diana's 12-carat sapphire surrounded by 14 diamonds.
“It’s my mother’s engagement ring,” William said of the accessory in a later interview. “So I thought it was quite nice because obviously she’s not going to be around to share any of the fun and excitement of it all – this was my way of keeping her sort of close to it all.”
Middleton and Markle also share similar taste in clothing. The future sister-in-laws have both slayed in the same lace Diane von Furstenberg dress. Check it out:
