The couple confirmed their engagement on Monday in a statement.
Picture perfect! Just hours after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed their engagement in a statement, the couple appeared at a photocall in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace.
On the chilly London day, Markle, 36, wore a belted white trench coat with nude heels. Harry, 33, sported a navy suit and a wide grin while holding his future bride’s hand.
Harry told reporters he knew Markle was "the one" from "the very first time we met."
Harry noted he was “thrilled” by the engagement news. And though they wouldn’t open up on the details of the proposal, both agreed it was very romantic.
Markle also flashed her new engagement ring for photographers. There are reports that Harry designed the diamond ring himself with several diamonds from his late mother, Princess Diana’s collection.
The couple stayed by each other’s sides throughout the exchange and though they didn’t kiss in front of the cameras, Harry was seen wrapping his arm around Meghan as they retreated back into the Palace.
Harry and Markle confirmed the engagement rumors earlier in the day, noting that he proposed in early November. They are set to wed in Spring 2018 and will live together in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.
“Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry Has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents,” the statement read.
Harry’s older brother, Prince William, and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, also shared their best wishes in a statement, saying, “We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together."
William and Kate announced their own engagement in November 2010 and tied the knot in a stunning royal wedding in April 2011. Kate currently wears the late Princess Diana’s sapphire engagement ring.
