Pink gets emotional as her daughter, Willow, leaves her tour to pursue theater professionally.
Pink is getting emotional as her daughter, Willow, prepares to stop touring to pave her own path.
The singer's 13-year-old daughter is leaving the Pink Summer Carnival 2024 tour to follow her musical theater dreams. In a sweet video posted to Instagram over the weekend, Pink, 44, sits down with her firstborn to discuss her decision to branch off.
"This weekend’s shows were Willow’s last few on tour before she takes time away to follow her dreams. I promised I wouldn’t cry. I DID NOT however, promise I wouldn't hyperventilate through our hug," Pink captioned her post.
She added, "It’s wild to watch your children grow up and out of you, but I’m beyond proud. We all are. I’m gonna miss you so much. ❤️❤️❤️."
The video goes back and forth between black-and-white sit-down clips of Pink and Willow, and colorful heartfelt moments between the two backstage on tour.
While drinking a glass of wine, Pink asks her daughter, "All right, I want to hear, I want you to tell me all the things. You're leaving me. Why would you ever do that?"
Willow explains that she plans to pursue her passion for musical theater, being most excited for Bye Bye Birdie. Pink understands, as she says she knew her daughter fell in love with theater the second she saw her onstage in Mamma Mia.
"I had never seen you so big, and your energy was six times your body. It was amazing," Pink says. "I was blown away."
Willow says her end goal is performing on Broadway.
"You have your own lane, and you want to be in it, and I love that for you," Pink says. "And I will tell you that in this last recital, I saw a version of you that I didn't know existed. And it is really wild to watch you grow up and grow out of me."
Willow isn't shy to show off her voice. She sang with her mom on the opening night of the Pink Summer Carnival 2023 tour. They performed their 2021 hit, "Cover Me in Sunshine." Pink has previously said that Willow would be paid just over minimum wage while traveling with her on tour.
In addition to Willow, Pink and husband Carey Hart, 48, are also parents to son Jameson, 7.
In May, Pink gushed over her firstborn's sense of self and individual style to ET.
"Willow is her own bird. She's amazing," the performer said. "She just shaved her head."
Even though it can be emotional, Pink is happy her daughter is paving her own path.
"I look around and everybody's doing a certain thing and she's just not," the star told ET of her teenage daughter. "She just -- she marches to the beat of her own drum, and I’m super proud of her and she's really talented."
