Nicole Kidman underwent a major make-under for her new role as a gritty detective in the crime drama Destroyer.
On Monday, the 50-year-old actress was spotted on set of her upcoming movie wearing a dark brown bob wig, tinted makeup and a pleather jacket over a black shirt and loose-fitting jeans. The look is certainly a far cry from her red carpet styles.
In Destroyer, Kidman portrays Erin Bell, a police detective who reconnects with people from an undercover assignment in her distant past in order to make peace. The film also stars Sebastian Stan, Bradley Whitford, Scoot McNairy and Tatiana Maslany.
Kidman shows no signs of slowing down in 2018. In addition to Destroyer and two other movies coming out next year, it's also been confirmed that she and Reese Witherspoon are working on a second season of Big Little Lies.
The first season of the HBO miniseries, based on Liane Moriarty's New York Times' best-selling novel of the same name, earned praise for how candidly it addressed difficult topics, such as domestic abuse. The show won eight Emmy Awards in 2017, including Outstanding Limited Series, and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series for Kidman.
"This is inspired by the overwhelming response by audiences around the world, conceived once again by Liane Moriarty, realized by David E. Kelley and now in the hands of visionary filmmaker Andrea Arnold,” Kidman -- who was also nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in the show -- said in a statement on Monday. “What a journey this has been. I’m so grateful to have this opportunity to keep exploring these female characters and make this series with my friends.”
