Nicki Minaj shared a cryptic post on X, making the rapper's fans wonder if she's teasing music or her relationship status.
Nicki Minaj has left her fans puzzled after posting a cryptic post to her X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday.
The rapper, 41, who is currently globetrotting while on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, took to the social media platform to tell her fans about an Instagram post she shared showing off the new Dolce and Gabbana dress she wore on a recent stop in Paris, France.
That same day, she wrote, "Yes Single …," without indicating what she was referring to.
The post left the rapper's fans wondering if she's teasing a new single (most likely) or sharing an ambiguous update on her relationship status.
Minaj -- born Onika Tanya Maraj -- married high school flame Kenneth Petty in October 2019, and they are parents to a 3-year-old son, whom they refer to publicly as Papa Bear.
The rapper has frequently defended her husband against social media criticism for his criminal record.
Petty's sex offender registration is a result of a 1994 incident, where a 16-year-old girl reported that Petty raped her at knifepoint. Petty, who was also 16 at the time, was charged with first-degree rape. He initially denied the accusations before pleading guilty to attempted rape. He served more than four years in prison and was ordered to register as a sex offender.
In November 2019, during a traffic stop, law enforcement discovered that Petty had yet to register as a sex offender in California after he moved to the state from New York, according to his booking sheet, which ET previously obtained.
Petty was indicted for failing to register as a sex offender in California in March 2020 after which time he self-surrendered, the U.S. Marshals confirmed on social media. At the time, Petty was released on a $20,000 bond.
In July 2022, Petty was sentenced to a year of house arrest and three years of probation, plus a $55,000 fine, ET confirmed at the time.
More recently, Petty was granted permission to travel internationally while on probation.
Minaj's mysterious post prompted varying responses from her fans online.
"Nicki is dropping a new single or is single, we won either way," one X user wrote.
"She literally just announced pink friday girls is the next single. How slow are y'all?" another user posted.
The cryptic post comes over a week after the rapper canceled her second Amsterdam tour date after being detained for alleged drug possession.
The rapper was arrested at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport on May 25 after Dutch authorities claimed she had marijuana – classified by the country as a "soft drug" – in her luggage, causing her to postpone her Pink Friday 2 World Tour concert at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.
On May 31, Dutch promoter Mojo announced on its website that Minaj's June 2 show at Amsterdam's Ziggo Dome had been canceled.
"Due to the events of last week, the Nicki Minaj show on Sunday, 2nd June at Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam will no longer be taking place," the company's statement read. "Tickets will be refunded at the point of sale."
The statement came shortly after Minaj shared an update after her arrest on X.
In her post, Minaj shared her side of the story and apologized to fans. "Thank you to everyone who prayed for me today. May God cover you & all that is connected to you. May you be blessed beyond your imagination," she wrote, in part. "I’ll find a way to not only make up the date with the performance but I’m going to create an added bonus for everyone that had a tkt for this show. Promise."
Since the incident, for which Minaj had to pay a fine, Minaj has performed a rescheduled Manchester show, in addition to dates in Birmingham, London and Glasgow. She will continue on to Germany and Poland after her Paris show.
