Cotillard announced her pregnancy amidst an unfortunate storm of controversy last fall, when she was rumored to be romantically linked to Allied co-star Brad Pitt, following his split from wife Angelina Jolie.
"Many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting," she wrote of Canet on Instagram, simultaneously shutting down the rumor mill and telling the world her happy news. "He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need."
"I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both who I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment," she concluded, signing the post: "With all my love, Marion."

Though Canet spoke out in September to call the rumors “stupid and unfounded,” the actress later said that she didn’t take the situation personally.
"I never take anything personally when it doesn't concern me," Cotillard cooly told Today show co-anchor Matt Lauer in November. "So, I didn't take it personally because I had nothing to do with those rumors or situation."
