The latest? Victoria Beckham celebrated the fifth birthday of her daughter, Harper, on Sunday with a sweet message -- "Happy Birthday baby girl. We all love you so much X kisses from mummy X" -- and this photo, featuring the kisses:

You wouldn't think this picture could inspire thousands upon thousands of comments, but you would be wrong, because this is the Internet and everything is stupid.
"Eww sorry I'm old fashioned it looks like they making out," one Instagram user wrote, while another said, "It's nice but you're not supposed to kiss you're children on the lips. I'm not trying to be rude but it's true."
Meanwhile, yet another commenter -- albeit one with a slightly better grasp on spelling and grammar -- weighed in, "That's one passionate kiss right there...Hope she gets so passionate with @davidbeckham."
The controversy became so much so that BBC News used their resources and platform to consult a social etiquette expert, Liz Brewer, who had this to say: "Normally with a member of your family you don't kiss on the lips unless it's your husband...I would be uncomfortable doing that and I think most people would be. If she feels it's appropriate, so be it. I wouldn't say it sets a particularly good example."

Since then, the fashion designer's comment section has been flooded with moms coming to her defense, with one commenter writing, "The fact that so many people sexualize a photo of a mother with her child is so disgusting. This is a beautiful photo and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it."
"It's a frightening day when we live in a world where a parent kissing a child is classed as wrong! What kind of messed up planet is this? She's a fantastic mother and obviously loves her kids immensely!" another wrote. "There's plenty of things shared on social media which are 'disgusting' however, the unconditional love between a child and parent is certainly NOT one!"
