The journalist opened up about his signature silver hair while cohosting 'Live!' with Kelly Ripa.
There are a million reasons to love Anderson Cooper, but right there at the top of the list is his signature silver foxness. (Yet another reason? He expressed his dislike of those very locks using a Game of Thrones reference.)
"I don't really like my gray hair. I wish I still had brown hair. It's not my thing," he told Kelly Ripa while co-hosting Live! on Wednesday. "If I could, I would probably color my hair, but I couldn't imagine sitting in a salon with tin foil in my hair reading old issues of Rosie...At this point it's too late -- the cow has left the barn."
When Ripa objected -- "But you're the silver fox! Silver is your signature color!" -- Cooper explained, "In my thirties, [I had] salt-and-pepper hair and now I keep thinking, 'There has to be pepper somewhere in there.' Every time I look in the mirror, I still think, in my mind, I have brown hair and then I'm like, 'Who is that old guy?'"
"I've started to look like a White Walker from Game of Thrones with the paleness," the 49-year-old CNN anchor joked. "It's a little too much. As soon as the White Walkers came on Game of Thrones, I was like, 'Hmm, I'm related to them.'"
The back-and-forth -- while basically sacrilegious -- was yet another reminder that Cooper would make a perfect permanent co-host for Ripa, now that Michael Strahan has officially exited the morning show.
Cooper, who is a real-life best friend of Ripa's, previously said of the rumors, "It would be a dream to work with Kelly, but nobody's offering anything." Meanwhile, ET has learned that both CNN and ABC have "hesitations."
