George Clooney and his wife Amal were happily greeted by Pope Francis when they showed up at the Vatican for an awards ceremony on Sunday.
The 55-year-old actor and 38-year-old human rights lawyer smiled as they shook hands with the religious leader at an event held at the Muro o Un Ponte Seminary at Paul VI Hall.

George was awarded a medal for his work with Scholas Occurrentes, an educational organization founded by the pontiff. The Oscar winner, along with Salma Hayek and Richard Gere, also will serve as ambassadors for the foundation's art projects, according to Reuters.
The Clooneys were quite the style-savvy pair upon arriving to the Vatican. George suited up for the occasion, while Amal wore a black lace Atelier Versace dress, a matching turban hat and Jimmy Choo shoes.
