Nate was rescued from a hoarder along with 21 other dogs, but he suffered from birth defects, including a barrel chest and bum leg, that made him all but unadoptable. That is, until George found him online and showed videos of him to his parents, Nick and Nina, who had recently lost their terrier of 10 years.
"He then asked his father, Nick, how he felt about the way Nate walks and he replied, 'I guess it sounds like he gets around just as good as we do anymore,'" the rescue group said in a Facebook post.
The Oscar winner had Nate delivered to his parents' home in Kentucky on Christmas Eve and Carol Roberts of LuvFurMutts tells ET they were "completely surprised" and even shed a few tears.
"I thought it was a joke at first. I was just beside myself that the Clooneys would consider a dog like Nate," Roberts said.
This is only the latest dog that George and Amal have rescued. In October, they brought home a 4-year-old Bassett hound, Millie, from the San Gabriel Valley Human Society to join their 10-year-old Cocker Spaniel, George, who is also a rescue.
