Days after announcing the sad news that her adorable dog Buddy had died in a “tragic accident," Demi Lovato continues to mourn.
On Friday, the 22-year-old singer posted a moving tribute to her dog on Instagram, thanking her fans for their support.

“We can’t thank you all enough,” she wrote in the caption to a collage of photos of her and Buddy. “This has been the most painful week of my life but Wilmer [Valderrama] and I had so much love and support, I’ve been able to stay strong and will continue to get through this difficult time.”
“The out pour [sic] of love and support has been unbelievable and it means the world to us,” Demi continued. “Love you all tons and ton [sic]…”

Buddy was a regular fixture on Demi’s Instagram page, and he even had his own account, where he had over 366,000 followers.
The singer shared an enlightening anecdote about the effect Buddy had on others, including a chance encounter with a homeless man back in April.

“When he was crying I asked him if he wanted to play with Buddy and he said yes,” Demi recalled. “That’s when Buddy jumped into his lap and made him smile when nothing else could. My little angel touched so many lives without even knowing it… Especially mine. I’ll never forget that day or how many smiles he brought to so many faces..”
Demi also posted an image of an inspirational verse from her meditation on Thursday, led by the quote, “This too shall pass.”
“The past me helping the future me,” she captioned the Instagram pic.
