The actress admits she used to get defensive when it came to Zac Efron's female admirers.
Vanessa Hudgens admits that when she was dating heartthrob Zac Efron, she did get defensive when it came to his numerous female fans.
"I went through a phase when I was really mean because I was so fed up," the 26-year-old told The New York Times. "Girls were running after him, and I was giving them death stares."

After meeting on set of the Disney movie High School Musical, Hudgens and Efron began dating in 2005, and continued their relationship for five years, calling it quits in 2010. "Then I realized that’s not what that's about," Hudgens revealed her change of attitude. "Spread the love, be a good person, they support you, be nice."

The former couple have both moved on romantically. The actress has been dating The Carrie Diaries star Austin Butler since 2011, while Efron, 27, started dating Sami Miro a few months back.
Hudgens also told The Times that Butler has given her a new appreciation for Catholicism. "It feels like Arcade Fire -- it’s epic like that," she said of attending mass at Hillsong with her beau. "They really focus on you having your own personal relationship with Jesus, which is wonderful."
Some of the starlet's fans fear she may not be attending the star-studded music festival Coachella this year due to her strenuous schedule playing Gigi on Broadway, but she does cop to her hippie sensibility. "I’m a definite hippie," she said. "I'm literally my happiest self when I’m dancing half naked on a grass field listening to Led Zeppelin."
