Patrick Swayze's Mother Dies

The late Patrick Swayze's mother, Patsy Swayze, passed away on Monday, Sept. 16, at the age of 86 at her home in Simi Valley, Calif.

The choreographer's cause of death has yet to be given but Patsy did suffer a stroke on Sept. 8, 2013, according to the Houston Chronicle (via the Los Angeles Times).

Like her son Patrick, perhaps best known for his role in Dirty Dancing, Patsy was also in the movie business. She choreographed the 1980 classic Urban Cowboy, while her other credits include Hope Floats and Liar's Moon.

Patrick met his wife Lisa Niemi Swayze at his mother's dance studio. They were married in 1975. Patsy passed away just two days after the fourth anniversary of her son's death. Patrick died on September 14, 2009 after battling pancreatic cancer. He was 57.
