Remini Calls Police About Scientology Chief's Wife
King of Queens star Leah Remini has filed a missing person report concerning the whereabouts of the wife of Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige.
A source confirmed to ET on Thursday that Remini contacted police and the actress alleges that Shelly Miscavige has not been seen in public for more than six years. Remini recently announced that she was leaving the Church of Scientology after disagreeing with various teachings and policies of the faith.

News of the missing person report regarding Shelly Miscavige -- a former friend of Remini's -- was reported by The Atlantic Wire.
In a statement to ET, lawyers representing Shelly Miscavige denied that she is missing. "Mrs. Miscavige has been working non-stop in the Church, as she always has. She is not a public figure and prefers her privacy," said the statement, which is signed by Jeffrey K. Riffer from the legal firm Elkins Kalt Weintraub Reuben Gartside LLP.
In a new statement on Friday to ET, the Church of Scientology said the police investigation initiated by Remini was unnecessary and a waste of police resources. "The Los Angeles Police Department has already stated that the case is closed and that the report filed by Leah Remini was unfounded."
The statement added: "This ill-advised, ludicrous self-promotion and the media inquiries it generated caused an inexcusable distraction for the LAPD in an era when the time and resources of its officers are stretched thin each day. Creating this unnecessary burden for law enforcement was even more irresponsible given the entire episode was nothing more than a publicity stunt for Ms. Remini, cooked up with unemployed, anti-religious zealots who blog on the fringe of the Internet. Sadly, rather than move on with her life and career, Ms. Remini has aligned herself with a handful of untrustworthy, lunatic tabloid sources who obsessively harass the Church to advance their selfish agendas."
