Morgan Freeman Reveals Set Secret
Every set has it’s secrets and the set of the new sci fi thriller, Oblivion is no exception. However, what went on between takes and behind the scenes is far less dramatic than the actual movie.
“If we got it (the scene) good, we (Tom and Morgan) had a handshake,” Morgan reveals.
That’s it. Not surprising since it was all smiles and love for the co-stars on the red carpet of the premiere of the movie, a first time collaboration for the longtime friends. Cruise said they were looking to work on a project for a long time and when they finally read the script for Oblivion, they knew, “this is it.''
“Tom Cruise is just some kind of guy,” the Shawshank Redemption actor said. “He’s fun to work with. He’s a terrific hard working actor. He’s considerate, he’s giving. Just fun and knows how to have a good time.”
And the feelings for Cruise are reciprocated.
“The power and the presence that he has is perfect,” Cruise said of Freeman.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski of Tron fame, the film is set in the year 2077, sixty years after an alien invasion makes Earth uninhabitable. Cruise plays former marine, Jack Harper, who works as a drone mechanic and whose mission is to ward off the remaining alien resistance and extract the planet’s remaining resources.
Freeman is Malcolm Breech, leader of the insurgency force comprised of the only remaining humans that continue to exist on Earth unknown to Harper. Breech reveals to Harper that his bosses are actually the aliens and that humans still live on Earth. As Harper's world is turned upside he must decide whose side he stands on and inevitably if he should help save a world he no longer knew existed.
Oblivion is released on April 19. For more interviews from the cast of Oblivion check out the video above.
