Ed Sheeran: Ellie Goulding and I Are Already Over

Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goulding raised eyebrows when they were caught holding hands in the audience at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, and Sheeran has just admitted in a new interview that they were in fact dating.

But just as quickly as it seems to have began, it's now already over.

"I mean, normal people don't hold hands if they're just friends," Sheeran, 22, admitted to Washington radio station Click 98.9 via Us Weekly. "It was going on. And now it's not." 

But Sheeran has no hard feelings towards the 26-year-old chart topper, who's also dated Skrillex and War Horse star Jeremy Irvine.

"She's a really cool girl and she's very talented," he said.

Sheeran's confirmation of their relationship directly contradicts the twitter denial Goulding sent out after fans' big reaction to their hand-holding hit the Internet.

"I love that holding hands with my friends means we're an item," she tweeted. "In that case I am in many relationships. Lover not a hater. #whatthef*ck."
