British Singer Adele Calls Off Tour Due to Illness
British singer Adele has canceled the remaining dates on her North American tour because of persistent laryngitis.
"I'm really frustrated. I was hoping with a week's rest I'd be better to sing again straight away," the artist said in a message on her website. "However there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctor's advice and rest some more. I'm so sorry. See you soon, love Adele."
The announcement comes after Adele initially postponed five tour dates beginning with Salt Lake City last Sunday because she was too ill to perform. She is now canceling her nine remaining shows and plans to reschedule those dates would be investigated, the statement said.
The 23-year-old's sophomore album 21 is one of the best-selling albums of the year, with close to two million units sold in America. Her single "Rolling In the Deep" is currently No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100.
