'Pinocchio' to Become a Real Boy in Disney's Live-Action Remake

After announcing live-action adaptations of 'Mulan,' 'Dumbo' and 'Winnie the Pooh,' Disney is eyeing another classic to bring to life.

It's starting to look like Disney is on a mission to produce live-action adaptations of all their animated classics, developing another beloved tale to bring to life on the big screen.

Next on Disney’s list? The 1940 celebrated classic Pinocchio, the tale of a wooden puppet who is brought to life through magic and goes off on wild and somewhat disturbing adventures.

So we're left asking the same question we had last week when Disney announced they were making a live-action Winnie the Pooh: How exactly is this going to be done?

Will Pinocchio be played by a small child? How big is the budget? Will the unnerving scenes be even scarier in live-action? Why is this even happening?

This is the latest in a long line of animated films that Disney has said they are planning to remake, or already have.

Cinderella just his theaters last month, while The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Dumbo, Mulan, Pete's Dragon, and Winnie the Pooh are in development.

Deadline also reported that Pan's Labyrinth director Guillermo del Toro is also developing a live-action Pinocchio story based on the original, much darker 1883 novel The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi.

There's no word on when either of these possible Pinoccio projects might be released, but in the meantime, check out the video below for a look at the films coming out this year that we're most excited to see.
